BIG FAN is a not-for-profit, multi-purpose music space located in Morningside, Aotearoa New Zealand. We offer three world-class recording studios and a live music venue all under one roof.
Our goal at BIG FAN is to bring people together, to support the role of music in the betterment of people’s lives, and to foster the talents of musicians, songwriters and those behind the scenes, regardless of experience level.

Studios
All of our recording studios are carefully designed with quality, ease-of-use and comfort in mind, so you can get on with making great music. We have three unique studio spaces available, each acoustically treated, tastefully furnished and equipped with top-of-the-line recording equipment, microphones and instruments.
Studio Enquiries
A cozy music-production suite with natural light and an isolation booth to capture anything from delicate vocals to heavy-hitting drums.
Dim the lights and immerse yourself in the music with Studio 02’s top-of-the-line recording equipment and moody interior.
A sky-lit music production room complete with a beautiful Yamaha U3 Upright Piano ready to be recorded with state-of-the-art gear.
Venue
Based in the beating heart of Morningside, BIG FAN is an all-ages and licensed venue, specialising in live music.
Offering state-of-the-art sound, lighting and vision gear, we cater to all types of shows, people and events – from brand-new artists playing their first show, to intimate performances by big-name acts, seminars, comedy, film screenings and more!

Big Fan is turning three and marking the milestone with a fundraiser to provide even more free programmes in 2026. Our charity is aiming to raise $50,000, with every donation matched dollar-for-dollar by founders Joel & Gemma Little, doubling the potential total to $100,000, and helping us to do more for the music community.
Big Fan’s initiatives — such as Ignite, Fan Camp, Residencies, and Green Room—are designed to break down barriers for people to explore their passion for music. These programmes offer practical experience, professional mentorship, and real community connection for people at all stages of their music journey.

We love music and the people who make it.
Founded by producer and songwriter Joel Little and his wife Gemma, and run through their charitable trust The Little Family Foundation, BIG FAN is for anyone who is passionate (or simply curious) about music, and wants to discover where it could take them.
We believe Aotearoa has a wealth of musical talent and we’re committed to making this space available to all, regardless of age, experience, background or financial circumstance. We are here to support musicians and the music industry from the ground up.
All income from BIG FAN studio and venue use goes directly back in to the facility and the work done there.
We are a passionate, dedicated and close-knit team who believe whole-heartedly in the BIG FAN vision and the potential of music to transform people’s lives – and the community at large.
BIG FAN is located along major bus routes and a stone’s throw from the Morningside train station.
