About RESIDENCIES

BIG FAN Residencies offer five-day opportunities, providing access to one of our three professional-grade recording studios to experiment, produce, write, and/or record music - for free.

Our mission? Break down barriers that limit access to recording studios for creative processes of exploring, writing, and producing music. Residencies support and foster emerging producers, songwriters, and artists, providing international industry standard equipment and facilities at no cost. Recognising that pre-set outcomes expectations can sometimes hinder creativity, the week is dedicated to allowing people to use the space in a way that best meets their needs.

WHAT’S ON OFFER

BIG FAN will provide the residents with:

·      access to one of our three studios at BIG FAN for five days

·      technical support from BIG FAN studio team as needed

·      lunch and beverages each day (a mix of per diems & catering)

·      travel and accommodation for one successful applicant residing outside of Tāmaki Makaurau‍

SUMMER RESIDENCIES 2024‍

Summer Residencies 2024 runs for the 5-day period Monday 26 February to Friday 1 March 2024.

Applications Open: Monday 5 February 2024 at 10am
Applications Close:  Sunday 11 February 2024 at 10pm

Applicants Notified By:  Tuesday 13 February 2024‍

ELIGIBILITY: Who Can Apply
Artists, bands, songwriters, and producers who want access to a recording studio for 5-days.

·      NZ Citizens and residents

·      Aged 18+ by the start of the residencies

·      Available for the full five-day residency from 10am to 6pm daily

·      Work is for original songs only (no covers or remixes)
